New Faces on Staff at Duchesne College

Welcome to the new Head of College and CEO – Thérèse Eddy
 


M Ed,BA Dip Ed, ADML, ADCD, Cert IV Fit.
Thérèse has officially commenced in her role as Head of Duchesne College and has quickly undertaken the task of recruiting for the vacant positions and overseeing the refurbishment plans for the College. Thérèse is originally from Dalby and Goondiwindi, from a family of eight children. Her early education spanned St. Ursula's College, Downlands College and Goondiwindi State High School. She is a graduate of the University of New England and most recently completed her Master of Education (Leadership and Management) at Queensland University of Technology. 
A Secondary School  teacher by profession, Mrs Eddy has taught at schools including The Armidale School, Catherine McAuley Westmead and Marist College, Ashgrove. Mrs Eddy comes to Duchesne with a cumulative experience of 22 years involved with tertiary residential colleges. She has worked within The University of Queensland as the Deputy Head of The Women's College and as the Events & Alumni Co-ordinator at King's College. Most recently, she has held an academic appointment within the School of Education at Queensland University of Technology.

Deputy Head Announcement  – Mrs Clare Goodwin

We are delighted to announce that Mrs Clare Goodwin (née Stephen) will be commencing as Deputy Head of Duchesne College in late February. Clare’s most recent employment was as a secondary school teacher at Marist College Ashgrove, teaching senior Legal Studies and Study of Religion. Prior to pursuing a teaching career, Clare was employed in marketing and analyst roles at OneSteel and Suncorp. Clare undertook postgraduate education through the University of Sydney where she recently completed a Master of Commerce (Business Law). Clare is also a graduate of ACU with a Graduate Diploma of Education (Secondary) and a Graduate Certificate of Religious Education.  Clare studied her undergraduate degree at UQ with a Bachelor of Business Management (Marketing) and a Bachelor of Arts (Economics and Journalism). 
Clare is originally from Dalby and is very familiar with College life as she and eight of her ten siblings resided at Colleges including Duchesne College, The Women’s College and Kings College.  We look forward to introducing you to Clare in the coming months as she and her husband will be living onsite in the residence next to the College.

Front Office and Communications Coordinator  - Mrs Julia Sambell

Julia joins Duchesne from many years working in administration, project management and communications. Julia experienced College life in NSW as a resident at St Albert’s College, UNE.    Originally a registered nurse graduating from the University of New England, Julia changed career paths and in recent years has held positions including Operations Manager at Dello Mano Chocolate Brownie Kitchen, Newstead, Office Manager of  Elite Maintenance Service, Gold Coast and Director of Epest Pty Ltd, a family-owned pest management company, based in Brisbane. Julia is currently enjoying seeing her daughter through her final year at Stuartholme – the school Julia also attended as a boarder.
